One Button; No Longer

By Jason Morley • computing • 9 Aug 2005

Having spent the last couple of weeks in the depths of France, I fear I may be somewhat late with this observation; Apple appears to have finally thrown in the towel and ditched the one button mouse in favour of the ‘Mighty Mouse‘?!.

While they have finally conceeded that PC users have been right these past few years, I’m not sure if I’m ready to do that. I’ve always been a bit of an odd one out, even in the Apple world, favouring the simpler one button mouse; it always struck me that UIs remain much simpler if application writers expect only one button. I wonder how long it will be before I’m forced to move away from my single button…

However if it was wireless that would be another story… ;)

  2. Wow… I’m honoured to see that Churchillians(?) read my blog. Actually, the mouse is becoming less and less appealing — it seems that due to the way they designed it, you cannot actually hold your fingers on both buttons at once! *sigh*
