Christmas 2007

Only a year too late, I’ve finally got around to uploading photos taken in Japan during the run-up to Christmas 2007.

Counter Script

Continuing the Christmas tradition of cleaning and clearing, I have been slowly working my way through some of the files floating around my system.

Finding one such file, I thought I’d post it here and share some of the amusement it gave me — a ‘counter script’ to be used to give telemarketers a dose of their own medicine:

Unfortunately, I now have no idea of the origins of this file. I am happy to update this post if anyone can provide me with the relevant details.

Origami

Whenever I visit home, I find myself sorting through the various parts of my life that remain here — those aspects that haven’t accompanied me on my various international travels.

This year, I found myself deciding that the — albeit small — collection of Origami had to finally go. Part of a much bigger set, I snapped photos of the 4 still sitting around my room and laid them to rest.

Starbucks’ Beijing

Finding one’s way around a foreign place can be a rather daunting task and Beijing is no exception. In a country where, try as you might, it seems inexorably hard to pronounce the names of places let-alone read them, multi-lingual maps become a necessity.

Thankfully, the bastion of Western culture that is Starbucks stepped up, providing one of the most vital documents I possessed during my time in China:

P.S. In order to avoid the ensuing confusion, I am in Chicago this week. Merely revisiting old haunts…
